In the aftermath of cheering for the runners of the 2017 Boston Marathon, I’ve been thinking about what it means to be “elite.” Does it have more than one form? Can anyone be “elite?” Am I elite? Are you? What if the very thing we think makes us weird and unlikeable is the exact thing that makes us elite?
