Divas. Perfection is boring AF.
One, it’s absolutely impossible to achieve and, thus, death to diva-dome. Two, it’s something that women seem to uniquely put pressure on themselves to be in all areas of life, and we’re constantly being sold products and services to help us be more perfect. (Essentially, we’re sold the idea that we should advertise a bag of lies and call it “me,” while being taught that it’s okay to openly criticize and even bully other women who let their imperfections show.) And three, perfection is the death of growth, and that is f-ing boring.

Excellent podcast! There are a couple of things that i may disagree with from my viewpoint, but your discussion left me with some great questions that I personally am left contemplating.
Am I really striving for some sort of perfection? A perfection inherited from the media, my family, friends and community? 100% agreement on that not being attainable.
What exactly is a role model? I think that there may not be any absolute about who is or isn’t a role model separate from my own observation. Who is a role model for me may not be for someone else, even regarding the same topic. Steve Jobs, role model in business and innovation. Role model for good upstanding family man, maybe not so much.
Bullying has no place in adult relationships, but IMHO a lot of people never quite grow up. If someone enters the public forum, right or wrong, they should be prepared for criticism. Ghandi, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Pope, all had or have their haters. I find that I am most hurt by criticism when I feel there is some validity to an argument against me. I always try to find an opportunity to learn, once I get past my hurt feelings. 🙂
Have a blast on your run! Keep up the awesome!!
